-13C – light snow

A perfectly lazy Sunday with buttermilk pancakes for breakfast  and lots of knitting during the day. I finished the second gauntlet and started on the first glove.

Picking up stitches for the edging

Did the lower edge and was a bit challenged by the [k1,yf, k1, yf, k1]-into-same-stitch bit. I hadn’t come across that stitch before and was puzzled as to which way the yarn should go around to come forward (I know, sounds silly). So I asked the google, and the google said that’s how bobbles were often made. So I asked the youtube to show me bobble making, and it did. Voila, lower edge is fine, and stitches for upper edge are picked up.

bit of a lazy day

I signed up as a pattern tester for one of the knitting designers on Ravelry and am quite exited about my first project – a gloves and gauntlet combination in variegated and solid yarn. Now I’m digging thru my stash to match two skeins.

Finished a pair of sox (finally)

Relatively warm today, almost up to zero

I used the January thaw to get out the ladder and take down the Christmas garlands from the porch and carport. Some of the cables and a pair of wicker stars in the planters will have to wait, as they’re either buried under two feet of snow or frozen in a solid block of ice (or both).

The afternoon was delightfully spent figuring out the lace part of my Ishbel shawl with only brief excursions into the basement for a load of laundry and to lend the tiger an extra pair of hands for fitting the drywall sheets in the furnace room. Starting to look good down there.

Started an ‘Ishbel’ shawl today with this beautiful skein of Handmaiden Casbah I bought from one of the ravelers.

Handmaiden Casbah

This stuff is so soft and drapey, it’s amazing to work with.

Day 4

What an amazing weekend. And I got a lot of stuff done, too. I’ll definitely do this again next year.

On the way home we almost ran out of gas. We made it to the station with 2.5 km left on the tank display. *phew*

On the road again

Not that it was very far.

Inn

Very nice house in the middle of the woods, deeply snowed in. Quite enchanting.
