Road trip

Went to Perth today with friends (one of whom brought her adorable 2 year old going on eight). Had lunch at the Fiddlehead in Code’s Mill, bought fresh coffee from the local roastery; and then us four girls hit Janie H Knits, the little one racing around the isles and aquiring her first piece of stash by way of a pair of dark manga eyes, the adults swooning over the selection and spending way too much money. But I came home with treasures. And I found the yarn for the dead fish hat the tiger requested (yes, there are weird patterns out there). All around a beautiful day in the face of some really grey weather with a mix of wet snow and rain.

Was going to try a second coat today

but parts of the wood are still a bit sticky. Otherwise an unproductive day, very grey, with too much TV and a delightful amount of knitting. Note, Olympic games + addictive project = time transmogrification.

Took a trip to Ashton with a bunch of Ravelers today for a nice lunch and some stitchin’n’bitchin’ at the Ashton General Store. What a fun bunch.

And when I came home the tiger had picked up my knitpicks package for me. My stunning cool colors sampler arrived, so, of course, I couldn’t do anything but cast on the sweater. Some puzzlement over the instructions for the first couple of rows, but pretty easy going after that. Me likes.

-2C – cloudy

Mostly working, revision, and watching Olympia these days. Oh, and I finally figured out what to do with the Malabrigo that was my birthday present. Scrumbling. A shawl I think. ’nuff said. Have to be off again.

-6C – light snow

Just finished the second glove in a bit of a Marathon. All the ends are woven in, but I’m too tired to sew on the buttons and take pictures, so that will have to wait until tomorrow.

In other news, it seems Canada finally won that gold on home soil. Well, as they say, it couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. Hope, I’ll get to see some downhill tomorrow, though the weather doesn’t look promising.

My glove has progressed to past the hole for thumb and pinky, and I’m about to start on the index finger.

A perfectly lazy Sunday with buttermilk pancakes for breakfast  and lots of knitting during the day. I finished the second gauntlet and started on the first glove.

Picking up stitches for the edging

Did the lower edge and was a bit challenged by the [k1,yf, k1, yf, k1]-into-same-stitch bit. I hadn’t come across that stitch before and was puzzled as to which way the yarn should go around to come forward (I know, sounds silly). So I asked the google, and the google said that’s how bobbles were often made. So I asked the youtube to show me bobble making, and it did. Voila, lower edge is fine, and stitches for upper edge are picked up.
