Annual yarn sale today

I got up suuuuper early for a Saturday morning (6:30). The tiger proclaimed me nuts and pulled the duvet over his eyes.

But it was sooooo worth it. I came home with the yummiest Handmaiden seasilk  and Fleece Artist lace imaginable, some really nice Lucy Neatby sockyarn, a cool, breezy bamboo for summer knitting and my coveted Berroco Seduce at half price. Of course I couldn’t wait to start a scarf with the latter, even though I’m in the middle of a test knit. Baaaad. girl.

26°C – showers

The slightly cooler weather has brought back the knitting joy, and I decided to do another test knit. A cowl this time, in two-color double knitting. A technique I’ve been wanting to learn for a while now. The start went well, then I read a chart wrong and had to tink 1,5 rounds, but now I’m on my way again. I have to concentrate, but it’s not as impossible as I feared.

Still hot

Though it rained for 5 minutes around 8:30 pm, which dropped the temp two or three degrees and upped the humidity by a factor of 2. I don’t think we can call that a win:win situation. The good news is, I’m slowly getting used to heat and feel less dead. Our fingerless mitten swap was today – hilarious show to see people try to model their woollen mittens on sweaty arms and then pull them off stat after the picture was taken. All the mittend were awesome, and I absolutely adore the pair I was given. Too bad I’ll have to wait half a year before I can use them. Can’t wait for the next swap. This was fun.

28°C – showers (it’s a Chinese laundry out there)

While I do have my ASJ as a world cup project, I needed something quick and mindless for the more involved matches and finished three more marketbags. Here’s the one I’ll keep for myself this time:

market bag

My knitniters will have first dibs on the other two. After that, if they’re still around, they’ll go up for sale at buntart.

Yesterday was hot (and veeery humid), but awesome

Even more so as we managed to hit the restaurant juuuust as the thunderstorm broke. And I bet Knit-Knackers didn’t mind a bit that we raided their yarn store after lunch. ;o)

Happy World Wide Knit in Public Day

We’ll be out knitting in Confederation Park for as long as the weather holds. Lotsa shade there, but don’t forget to bring something to drink. Check Ravelry for a rain location. Can’t wait to see you all out.

Knitting marketbags again

My LYS was nice enough to provide some charity yarn for this charity project. Here’s the one I finished today:

Road trip

Went on a stash enrichment excursion with the girls today, to Janie H. Knits in beautiful Perth. We reveled in yummy yarns and wonderful books, then went for lunch in a really nice bakery cum cafe and came away with huge piles of treasures and large dents in our wallets.  Good day.

I decided to frog my stash-buster wrap

It had languished long enough. I wasn’t really happy with the way it looked, and consequently other project caught my eye. And the more I looked at that big pile of odds and ends and single skeins, the more I thought what a great ASJ that would make. So this is my FIFA Soccer Championship project.

I slightly fudged the pattern. My idea is for a loose fitting jacket with the drape of a shawl. We’ll see how it goes.

Forgot to bring my knitting to knitnite today (Yeah, I know. Just … never mind, ok?) and consequently had to buy yarn to start sth new (the hardship). I think it’s going to be a shawl or stole. My own design, this time, which is a bit exciting. If I like it, I’ll write up the pattern for ravelry. We’ll see.
