Still investigating pattern generation

There are programs out there to turn pictures into a sort of pixelized version for counting patterns, but the tiger (bless his heart) don’t need no stinking program. He writes his own. Did I mention he rocks? Now I can do my own colorwork charts. :o)

Still no rain

… but it’s very muggy, overcast and stormy looking. I’ve been running around with the hose and watering can to give some emergency relief to those most affected.

We have steaks for another BBQ tonight, but no clue if the weather holds.

I was going to paint the trellises, but frittered the day away on pattern making instead. Computers are such time eaters; it’s scary. Cool stuff, though, designing your own patterns. Maybe more about this later.

Good use for a rainy day

Had a blast today with a handful of other knitters making body doubles of ourselves as dress forms. Picture a bunch of girls covering each other in duct tape like in this tutorial:

The resulting mannequins look quite professional, and I started using mine already. It makes trying on a half finished sweater so much easier.

Started this last fall


Garden shawl

but it’s quite big, so it took me a while to finish it. Got the yarn from a traveling stash. It’s a little coarser than I’d normally like for a lace shawl, but this I wanted as a throw for out on the deck or in the garden, so it needs to withstand some wear and tear, and for that it’s perfect.
